One of Sony's best LED LCD televisions so far.
If you're looking for a high-resolution television that's ideal for home cinema and HD gaming, this is definitely the ticket. The versatile Sony BRAVIA HX729 Series 3D TV optimizes the picture quality of content in every way possible - with the most advanced video-processing technology Sony has to offer, that utilizes their exclusive Super Bit Mapping for video, and Motionflow XR480, this television's picture will rival that of today's 4K Digital projectors used in movie theaters! It also has a wide range of Internet features. You can access YouTube, Netflix, Vudu, and other great apps such as Sony's very own Entertainment Network which features thousands of movies and TV Series'. You can also use the remote's TrackID button to identify a song playing in the background of a movie. The thing I like about Sony's LCD HDTV line is with every television they make has progressive lines that really stand out when you watch a movie or something other and are hard to notice, which is more than I can say for their competitors, especially when it comes to 3D HDTVs(I haven't watched anything in 3D yet on this one, but I heard it has good 3D as long as you're directly in front of the screen for it). But like LCD/LED flat-panel televisions from the other manufacturers--Samsung, Vizio, Sharp, and LG among others--the speakers lag behind... as in they're only good for watching TV sitcoms, so I would recommend adding a quality home theater system to the mix(preferably at least a 6-speaker or 5.1-channel set-up as those sound bars won't quite cut it) if you want your movies and games to sound their best. I'd also recommend investing in a Sony 3D Blu-ray disc player that features Super-Bit(it'll have the SBM-V logo on its box) if you want your movies to look their very best... and it'll cost a couple hundred dollars more than their other Blu-ray players, but it's worth it.

Easily the best Blu-ray disc player on the market.
I was going to get a Sony BDP-S590 3D Blu-ray disc player this past winter since I liked its monolithic and sophisticated design and it was conveniently priced, but when I looked at the BDP-S790 on Sony's website, I couldn't help but notice it supports SBM-V and the S590 doesn't. So I ultimately decided to get this one. If you don't know what SBM-V is, let me explain it to you: it is an exclusive Sony video-processing feature(also supported by their HX and XBR series televisions that utilize the X-Reality PRO engine, as well as any Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Blu-ray disc titles that were released in 2010 or after)that purifies the video signal bit by bit, resulting in a smoother pixel and color gradation and thus a more accurately-mapped picture--in short, Super Bit Mapping for Video. This feature takes 1080p HD content to the next level. So if you have one of the above mentioned Sony TVs, this is just the right Blu-ray disc player for you. But as stated above, SBM-V is a Sony exclusive--although the network features are basically the same as utilized on Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Vizio, and Sharp's 3D internet-enabled Blu-ray players, you won't get the same advanced video-processing picture this one has... unless one of the above mentioned has a counterpart to SBM-V. Though the network features are pretty much also the same as Sony's Smart TVs have, as such I would recommend only using the Internet on whichever device you find is faster - the TV or the player. Another thing I like about this Blu-ray disc player is not only does it allow you to adjust the 3D effect to your liking, but it is also able to convert a 2D signal into 3D. And what I'm particularly proud of is that its rear panel contains 2 HDMI ports, one for video and the other for audio, which will certainly come in handy if you have one of Sony's Blu-ray home theater sets that just include the 6 speakers and the AV receiver that's about the size of most of their earlier Blu-ray players. In a nutshell, this is not only an awesome accessory, but a hot bargain--that is, if you can get it for $200 or less.
