Economical mechanical keyboards with backlight
When I sit down to write, there is something about the sound of those mechanical keys that is fulfilling. I do not play any PC games, so I cannot speak to response, and I have only been using this keyboard for a couple of weeks, so I cannot speak to longevity, but for the price, if you are looking for that old-school click-click-click of a typewriter, it certainly fits the bill.
I will caution, however - the keyboard is backlit, which is a positive if you like to write at night but without a desk lamp (I do - ambiance is everything). The backlights, however, are different for each row. Clever, I guess, if you like that sort of thing, but annoying if you are into uniformity. The LEDs are six different colors, one per row. I do not like it. I do not know how to type without hunting and pecking (hey, I am good at it, but still, I need to look at the keyboard), and having it is a bit off-putting. You can do patterns (I do not know why anyone would do this...but it is there), and turn the backlight off (which defeats the purpose a bit). I am slowly getting used to it, but I wish I could make all of the LEDs be one color, even if they all just came as white or blue or red or whatever. If this was completely and clearly explained in the description then I missed it.
I would still recommend this keyboard. It seems to meet the mechanical keyboard description, and I like it.

Yeti - real deal to keep cold things cold
These are the real deal, with the lids, and they work like a champ.
Stainless Steel version are sleek, and I add my on vinyl to customize.
