Alchemic Photography is run as a small private business supplying and repairing older film camera and acessories. These carry at least a three month warranty. (Applies to all items except ones sold purely as scrap, for which warranties vary.)

Serviced and reconditioned film cameras, new and used accessories and parts, vintage manuals, repairs and servicing. Classic Pentax SLR's, and olympus compacts a specialty.

Working and faulty cameras, Lenses, lightmeters etc.

Been running an eBay shop for over two years now. I saw a need for decent used cameras on eBay as most of the ones I was then buying were frankly not as good as they ought to be!

I accept PayPal, Postal Orders, and personal cheques. All Postal orders must be made out to GBP and cheques must be drawn on a sterling account. I only accept direct credit transfers to my bank account from established business customers who have been credit checked. So please don't ask!

Shipping is first-class or air mail. If over 1Kg, standard parcels may be used. If over 2Kg overseas packages will be sent by special courier, or if possible, sent as a split shipment. (Multilple items/job lots.) Whichever is the most economical method with a good delivery time. Please note that P&P charges are necesarily based on estimated packaged weight, and materials cost. I cannot vary the charge after the sale is made. Insurance will be included according to my own discretion. This is included in the price or postal charge. As postal losses are considered the senders loss in most countries, the buyer is always covered. The amount included is part of my necesary running expenses, and can not be waived. (International buyers are reminded that it is against ebay policy to allow sellers to make a false declaration on customs documents. This is illegal and can have serious consequences for the seller, and may lead to the goods being siezed by customs.

No quibble returns for all fixed price items. New and refurbised/serviced items are covered by a minumum 3 month warranty. (May be longer. See individual listings.) Occasionally items may be sold as scrap by auction. These items are usually beyond economical repair, and are sold purely as scrap for salvage. The normal returns policy still applies but please understand that no warraties can be made as regards the condition of any salvagable parts, or repairability of such items.

Reconditioned and serviced items are priced acording to condition, and the price includes all servicing costs. This is much more economical compared to buying a cheaper unserviced item which, more often than not, requires exepensive servicing to restore full functioning. Minor defects are also accunted for, and do not affect warraties on all other aspects. All my serviced and reconditioned equiment is sold with at least a three month guarantee which allows plenty of time for you to test it properly, but should any probelm arise after that time I am still happy to offer what help I can.

Scrap items are sold as scrap. I will not try to pretend that they contain servicable parts of any use to the prospective buyer. They often do, but this cannot be detailed in the listing. If you need a particular part please feel free to enquire, I will usually know if it is likley that a particular scrap camera will have such a part. What will be guaranteed is that no item offered in this condition is economically repairable. In other words the time and expense involved in any repair would make the item too expensive to sell. This usually means that it would be difficult to repair, or even impossible. As far as I am concerned it is not worthwhile. However, many people repair cameras as a hobby, and are willing to spend many hours doing this, and often scrap cameras are the only source of parts. So while I cannot guarantee that they can be restored I am willing to offer an opinion if asked. Salvaged spares from equipment I have stripped myself do come with the usual warranty.
