This is my all-time favorite Hanukkah book. I've been reading it to classes at schools for many years. It's a very poignant story, and a great example of the ways Jewish holidays serve to remember both the joys and sadnesses in life. The youth always sit spellbound through the story, and it prompts meaningful discussions. It may not be appropriate for very young children due to the references to the Holocaust. This book is now out-of-print, so is definitely worth buying if you can find a good copy.
