Thinkpad T43 is a good choice for a laptop
The IBM T43 is a nice machine for an older Intel Pentium M platform. Works great for most average computing needs. I've owned a handful of these, along with its bloated sister the R52, and never had a field failure. Machines are available with nice 14 and 15 inch screens in various resolutions. Most the usual ports (except for a serial port) are there. Firewire is available but it's not on many of them. They're also available with integrated graphics, good for longer battery life, and ATI x300 mobile graphics, good for older games and 3D work. The case is sturdy but it scratches easily. Various wireless cards are available and they work fine. Keyboard and the mouse stick feel great. The touchpad is good for those that don't like the stick. Decent runtime with the standard and extended batteries. Finding replacement or upgrade parts is easy. Lenovo website is great for dowloading drivers, service information, and specific model information. There's a few cons. IBM used a PATA primary drive and added a drop detector. The units run fine with an unapproved hard drive, but you get a 2010 error and beep at startup. Don't install or disable the Thinkpad APS because some drives lock up if they receive a command they don't recognize. If the beep is annoying, search the error on ThinkWiki and download the hacked BIOS that disables it. Cooling is acceptable but some of the cooling fans can be noisy. To improve the fan operation, load the latest embedded controller from the IBM website. If it's still annoying, there's an updated fan assembly that is less noisy. And finally, the BIOS passwords can't be easily reset so make sure you know what you're getting if purchasing a used Thinkpad.

Mini USB charging port replacement part for GoPro Hero 3 3+
Used this to replace mini USB port on GoPro Hero 3+. GoPro jack has 2 straight stakes and 2 bent stakes for mounting to PCB. This jack fit as original. Good replacement part. Replacement of jack requires good soldering skills.

Great drive for small and cool data storage.
First off, this is a 15mm drive, so it won't fit in most laptops. It also requires 12V and 5V, which most laptops don't provide. I use two of these in RAID0 for an always-on data array. I was having problems with standard laptop drives lasting only about a year. Performance is great and reliability is good so far. The 3.5" family is more cost effective, but these draw alot less power. 1.4M MTBF and 5 year warranty is nice.
