Why I have Private Auctions
The new feedback system now lists the item name and amount you paid under your feed back comments.
For the reasons listed below, I will be making all my auctions 'private'
I feel that what you buy, as well as what you pay for it, is your business. Sure, I like seeing my buyers are happy with their purchases, and could easily point to my FB for selfish reasons [look how happy userID was with their itemname purchase], but I liken this new display of information to being at a checkout counter, and having the cashier announce ''I need a price check on a personal item'' Or it could be a dozen roses while your wife is at the other end of the store. It doesn't matter.
At least once you leave the store with your purchase, it's over. Not anymore. Now on eBay we can see what you bought, when you bought it, and how much you paid for it . . . for the next 3 months!
Business InformationHistory/background
Another reason I have private auctions now is because it's like shooting fish in a barrel for spammer scammers. Find a seller that sells designer bags [for instance], and check their feedback for a ready made customer list!! I know that everytime I list a designer bag, I get emails from scammers trying to sell me designer bags wholesale. I know they are scammers because there is no such thing as a designer wholesaler. The items I sell were purchased retail, and either used or put away for later, and never used, and I sell them as such.
I hate to think that my customers may be getting simular emails.
There are probably other reason's as well, but my main point is, I want my customers to feel comfortable buying from me. I think the FB comments are enough. I don't think displaying what you bought from me is appropriate, or beneficial to you, or future customers, and in fact it may even be detrimental to a safe trading environment.
Shipping information
The US Postal service is increasing their rates this May.
For you Canadians, some services will be completely changed.
I am trying to keep up with these changes as best I can, but I will honor any shipping amounts I have listed.
My Shipping includes proper packaging, and carefully considered shipping methods, because I think you should get what you paid for in the condition it was listed in. I don't comprimise on packing/shipping, and neither should you. Saving $1 means nothing if the item arrives broken because it wasn't packed well. I offer cheaper methods whenever possible, but sometimes I just can't. If you don't see parcel listed, it's because it isn't a good idea.
