Business InformationHistory/background
When my husband and I got married almost 31 years ago, I worked for the Idaho Secretary of State's Office. He was partner in a Construction Company. Over the years we learned that only by being your own boss do you ever have control of your own life. He gained a degree in Electronics, myself a degree in nursing and a certificate as a transcriptionist. With 7 children those employments paid the bills but kept us 'married' to our jobs. Health issues led to my early retirement in May of 2000 and my sweetheart came down with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999. He fought stoicly but succumbed to disabled in 2004. What we had known best during all of our years of marriage was business ownership. Even though we had always worked hard at 'jobs' we kept our dreams alive with 'Smithee Enterprises' which had been 'created' years earlier in 1990. Now Ebay would be our 'cash cow' and we sank our whole heart and souls into it. I was SO SCARED! But that was the beginning! Now, we are both lifers in THIS bus!
Payment policy
I prefer PayPal...maybe not their charges...but their security, the quickness of completing the transaction and the sureness that the buyer is bonafide. I also take credit cards. I like to wrap up the transactions quickly. I also like sticking with a winner & that winner is Ebay. They are good to me and I am loyal to them. You won't find me bending the rules. As far as payments go? Ebay says NO money order and NO checks. That's good enough for me. I won't bend on PERSONAL CHECKS. I believe there is some leeway on money orders. But checks are a no-no EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME!
Shipping information
I try to be on-the-ball enough during the day that if I receive a payment before 3 p.m. in the afternoon, I will try to ship a person's package THAT SAME DAY. I have a personal policy that motivates me to not hold on to anyone's money for even one day before I send them what they have ordered. I LOVE getting the auctions sent within 1 hour and I actually have a goal and a game about that very thing with my husband!
Return policy
I guess my return policy is the strangest and the very easiest on the customer anywhere on Ebay! I am SO CERTAIN that the transaction will go well on MY END that I warrant this: Every item I sell is INSURED, by myself or Auctiva; however, if something goes wrong during shipping and the error or fault turns out to be mine, I will reimburse the customer for the original shipping charge PLUS the shipping charge to get the item returned to me! I must be notified within 24 hours of receipt (based on delivery confirmation times) and then the item MUST be returned to me, insured, within 72 hours of receipt. If the error is mine the full reimbursement is immediate and I will take the time to file the insurance claim. Or, if preferred, the customer may choose to keep the item at their home and I will facilitate filing of the insurance claim on their end.
Contact information
I may be contacted from 10 a.m. MST to 10 p.m. MST at 208-327-0618. Please feel free to speak to either Tracey (me) or Paul. As far as email, I MUCH prefer receiving messages through the Ebay system as that allows me to keep a handy record of the messages I send and those I receive. Please send email through this system.
Why Should Customers Choose My Auctions?
I try to give FULL DISCLOSURE throughout my auctions. I tell you up front what the value of the item is that I'm selling...no guesswork or legwork even on your part unless you want to do it. Even on rare pieces I don't try to take first blood! I still keep 75-90% of my auctions with the asking price between 15 & 35%! Many sellers ask 100% of the selling price just because items are harder to get. I know we're in this to make a living but I don't like to gouge folks. I know you came here to get a good deal just like I did. Also, my shipping prices are calculated at the bottom of the auctions but I state very clearly that each auction has a $2 handling charge worked into that figure. Not very many sellers will tell you how much their shipping charge is or how much of YOUR SHIPPING COST is actually going to help pay for their cost of doing business. That's what I mean by full disclosure. I don't want to bend the truth by saying nothing. SATISFACTION is ALWAYS GUARANTEED!
WRAP it UP!
Well, here at the end of the 'about me' stuff, I want my customers to know that I'm here for keeps. I believe in customer service. I believe in mentoring and mentor other sellers from far and near. I want YOU to succeed in YOUR business because when YOU SUCCEED, I succeed. Also, when sometimes things go wrong on my end, I don't just refund a person's purchase. I believe that they arrived at the point of a purchase on my site after considering thought. So, if I lose or break a figurine you've paid for, I will seek extensively to replace that for you at my own cost & have it sent to you from another seller. I owe you that. It's only when this falls short that I let the customer know there has been a problem & then refund their money. I want you to receive what you went shopping for...even if it gives another seller a sale. I welcome honest questions. I try to answer honestly as well. Come visit me again real soon! With warm regards, Tracey Smithee :-)
