“Ossili,” the 16 foot Whitehall-type cedar and white oak two person pulling boat pictured above was built for amateur competition near Rangeley Lake, Maine in 1891. She has been in use at our New Hampshire summer home since 1910. Her restoration, completed several years ago, earned a photo and mention in Wooden Boat magazine. They described her as a “beautiful example of an elegant 1890’s pulling boat” and we certainly agree. We row her daily in the summer and use her to retrieve pond yachts that venture off course.
Business InformationHistory/background
My family has been fortunate to own a summer home on a lake in northern New Hampshire since 1906. In addition to full size vintage speedboats, sailboats, canoes and rowing boats, we always had a collection of antique pond boats. That collection was the beginning of my interest in model yachts and it became a serious pursuit about 30 years ago.
Appreciating Antiques, founded in 1980 in San Francisco, California, has been in the business of selling high quality authentic antiques and nautical items since that time. In addition, our company provides restoration and fabrication services to antique collectors and other restorers. Our business works with local restorers refurbishing items and fabricating parts for full size boats and model yachts.
Our personal collection includes vintage sail and powered pond boats. We continue to collect good examples and – due to space limitations - we offer selected model yachts for sale to collectors.
Thanks for your time.
