There must be something in it for the other guy if you wish to keep dealing with him, and, as a bonus, he’ll probably pass along the good word that you’re a value for value type of person. Let the other fellow know that you’re out to make the best possible deal for yourself, but not at the expense of losing a long-term relationship. No matter how much you try to make on any one situation, it most likely can’t approach the amount that can be realized over a period of years during which you will be able to deal with the same person many times.
