From 1993 to 2004, Awesome Tan,Inc. was a popular tanning salon chain in Southeast WI. The disastrous results of 9/11 really killed my once successful business. Tanning is a seasonal luxury to begin with and Autumn is the slowest time of year for tanning salons in the midwest. During the fall, most of my clients consisted of people who were planning vacations. After 9/11, no one wanted to travel. It was a very bad year for my tanning business. The economy was terrible before 9/11, but it really took a dive after terrorists victimized our beloved country. I toughed it out for a few more years after that, but I was never able to recover from the aftermath of 9/11. I had to close my last tanning salon down in October of 2004. Up until then, I owned and operated two, successful, tanning salons near the Wisconsin/Illinois border. I moved to Florida in 2005 and I sell the lotions I used to sell at my salons on ebay.I can charge a lot less on ebay :) I do not have that overhead anymore.
