Basset Books LLC, operated by Dan and Jan Riker, has been selling used, collectible, and out-of-print books on-line since 1998. We also have operated two open stores, in Columbia and Savage, MD. We carry a wide variety of books. Our major areas of interest are: history of all kinds, especially American, military & espionage, Russian and European; literature both modern and classics; children’s books, mysteries; science fiction/fantasy/horror; science, nature and math; literary biography; women’s studies; signed first editions and signed mysteries; and antiquarian & fine bindings. When buying from us you can expect superior, personalized, service. We do appraisals. We buy books and we make house calls in the Maryland-DC-Northern Virginia area. Our careful packing and shipping consistently receives the highest praise from our customers.

Payment policy
PayPal and major credit cards

Shipping information
We ship most hardcovers in boxes with bubblewrap padding. When we use a padded mailer we also wrap the book in bubble wrap. Where practical dust jackets are protected with Brodart mylar covers. We use Delivery Confirmation for all shipments, except Customs numbers are used for some international shipments. Upon shipment you will receive an email containing the tracking information. We never charge for insurance.

Return policy
Books may be returned for any reason within seven days of arrival. However, unless the book is being returned because of an error we made, or because of damage in shipment, we only will refund the purchase price, not the shipping charges.
