NO LOVE FOR THESE SCOTTISH BRIDES
I bought this thinking it would be a historically accurate collection of Scottish bride stories. It is not. This reads like a typical "dime store novel". The characters are one dimensional, dialogue is predictable and language is modern (not 1800 Scottish). However, if you are the type who likes to read "romance" novels, you might like this. I on the other hand, do not.

RAISING THE BAR FOR NATURE FILMS :PLANET EARTH DVD
This is going to be a classic in the way that Disney's Fantasia was back in 1940.Fantasia created the mold for blending music and movie magic and Planet Earth creates the mold for blending high definition filming and conservation education. Brilliant! I like that the narration in this version is NOT Sigourney Weaver. The BBC version features a British man's voice, David Attenborough . The US version (with Weaver narrating) is not yet available on DVD. I encourage you to buy the BBC version. Anyone who has an interest in nature, animals, global warming or high tech filming will love this series. Chilren will love it too, though it does not shy away from the animal kingdom's predator-prey relationship in all its blooddy detail, so caution is advised.

Complex and Captivating Scottish lore
This book is rich in historical details and provides a compelling story complete with young love, bawdy humor and unexpected turns. Set in Scotland and France during the Crusades, the heroine must come of age in the most trying of circumstances. An excerpt from the first chapter: "I huddled into the wall and prayed God to take me and I cared not how, so long as it was soon. Every moment in this wretched world was now torture. Then I heard footsteps and my heart leaped-my prayer was about to be answered!"It is a fast paced novel and perfect for anyone wishing to break out of the cheezy romance genre. Sheild of Three Lions is a gentle step toward more scholarly historical fiction.
