All About MeWhat everyone should know about me
I used to look, and sprint, like Guido Bontempi...sadly now I have much more in common with Tom Vernon!
Things I sell
InterestsForthcoming Special Project Builds:
I'm in the middle of a Colnago phase! I'm building two, both top of the range Art Deco Signature frames. One is being built as a road bike, with Campag 8 Speed record throughout. The other is being built as a hilly time trial bike, with 2nd generation C Record group, 16mm Assos etc. They are both my size, so that means big! 61cm, and the road has extended head and seat. They are the two most beautiful things that have ever graced this good earth (well, in my opinion anyway)...I have justified their existence by designating them as my road and TT bikes for next season. However, considering I've not actually ridden any form of bicycle for more than 2 miles since I retired from racing in '89, no doubt they will at some point come to be offered for sale when a new project rears its head. Mail me if you would like some advance pictures and specifications, but do be warned...you will need deep pockets! I've spent a LOT of money on these beasties...
Business InformationHistory/background
Both my father and I love to play with the bicycles and componentry that appeal to us. Dad's likes span from the early fifties right up to the present day, as is proved by the bewildering range of goodies to be found at my parents' homestead. For me, things are a little more limited, and I can only get truly excited by offerings from the 1980's...in my opinion the most exciting decade in cycling, and not just because it happens to be the one I raced through!
As with most enthusiasts, Dad and I tend to chop and change our respective treasures fairly regularly according to the whims of the moment, and eBay has proved to be a godsend in that department. The worldwide availability of both suppliers of one's chosen fantasy item, as well as buyers of one's own surplus items has taken the hobby onto a whole new level - it's like a cyclejumble that operates 24/7! I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to make contact with fellow enthusiasts all over the world.
Shipping information
UK items are always posted first class, with signed for and recorded delivery options where appropriate. I always try to charge postage at actual cost (including packaging materials when necessary). If I significantly over-estimate posting charges, or am able to use recycled packaging, then I refund the difference via Paypal. International shipping is also charged at cost and sent by the buyers preferred method. All items are extremely carefully packaged, and sent as I would wish to receive them.
Return policy
I adhere to all Distance Selling Regulations, as well as Ebay's 'Best Practises', so you can buy with confidence. Also, I'm a pretty decent sort of bloke, as well as a true cycling enthusiast, so if given chance will cheerfully rectify any mistakes or problems that may arise - just give me a shout!
What are your views on using Ebay?
I take my eBay dealings very seriously - I love the thrill of finding something I've been looking for for years, and make every effort to describe anything Dad or I sell in the fairest possible terms. I'm very proud of my powerseller status, and feedback rating (save for my one negative, somewhat unfairly left by a rotter), and would hope that I deal with any and all buyers exactly as I would hope to be dealt with myself when I'm the buyer. My experience thus far has been superb - I reckon that cyclists have extended to eBay the same community spirit that has long since thrived in clubrooms all over the country.
