BoF aims to open a cafe in Birmingham where the family can eat together while mom nurses Junior. Coz lets face it who would enjoy sitting in the loo with their dinner?.... exactly.. so why should mom be relegated there to breast feed?

1) Get comfy and if possible learn to nurse baby whilst you are lie down as well as seated.... great way to get a bit more rest in the early days. 2) Take your time, this is special time for you and baby, all too soon he will be weaned. 3) Cabbage leaves are great for sore engorged boobies... strange but true! 4) Even a few days of breast milk is better than none at all. 5) No position is really a bad one, all my kids have been wrigglers while nursing. 6) Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature are the supreme artificial teat for babies who have learned to breast feed. The sucking method is the same. 7) Bravissimo stock ginormous nursing bras... up to 'L' cups! And finally... never forget that breast feeding is the most natural thing in the world... its a way of saying 'I love you baby' every time you feed him.

'Breast of Friends' came into being during a smoking cessation session at the beginning of my last pregnancy. I was discussing breast feeding with my support worker as she had just returned to work following maternity leave and had not been able to breast feed due to lack of support. This became a regular topic for me over a few weeks with other moms online and therefore Breast of Friends support group began. It was during my last maternity leave that I decided that enough was enough... no more sitting in tiny closets next to a dirty nappy bin... moms need a comfy, relaxing place to feed baby properly. And if they can get a bite to eat and a brew all the better especially if this includes being able to sit with their family too. A baby's booby time is his mealtime and family mealtimes have proven to be supportive of good communication and familial bonding. So why should mom and baby have to be seated away from the rest of their family.
