Five Eye Cup Eyecup for Nikon D300 DSLR NEW in Plastic
Apr 20, 2016
Could have been better than the Nikon DK-22..............
I was hopeful this would be more durable than the Nikon DK-22 adapter since it has a small metal piece to reinforce the plastic clip that slides over the camera's mounting flange. The clip itself is more durable - but the threaded plastic ring that attaches the rubber eyecup to the clip is inferior to Nikon's 19mm threaded metal diopter. The first evening that I used this eyecup, the plastic retaining ring and rubber eyecup popped off and went missing with the camera over my shoulder on a Joby Pro sling strap. The clip stayed on the camera. As opposed to the Nikon solution where the all-plastic DK-22 typically breaks off taking both the rubber eyecup and diopter with it. I'm going to investigate if a Nikon 19mm metal diopter will fit the mounting threads on this item's plastic clip. If it does, it should be the best of both worlds for durability. Good potential, just fails a bit in execution.
