The WRT54G running DD-WRT is a good choice for home use, the functionality added with DD-WRT is second to none.
I had one years ago, flashed the router with DD-WRT and it finally quit on me after about 8 years of service, the router hardware is of good quality and held up a long time for a sub $100 device. I have no complaints, useful in many ways of repeating signal to avoid degradation and attenuation. The bridge-repeater can function by being extended over a hardwired LAN RJ45 or wireless, worth its weight for sure!
