John Mellencamp : Scarecrow CD (1990)

JCM's Best Album!
I remember hearing these songs on the radio back in 1985 when I was in Vocational school. I always wanted to buy the album but had limited funds back then. Finally I now own the CD. Minutes to Memories is the best song. The album was motivated by his Indiana roots. Later in life those farming experiences motivated him to get together with Willie Nelson and Neil Young to create Farm Aid. If you buy any album by John Mellencamp buy this one!

Love the first film! The All-Star cast is a real Hoot!!!
I bought this set because I absolutely love the original film from 1970 with Dean Martin and Helen Hayes. You know when it came out film critic Gene Siskel saw it with a bunch of movie theatre owners. At the end of the movie all these owners stood up and applauded! Why? Because they loved the film and loved what it was going to do to their box offices. Airport 1975 and 1977 are also quite good. The last one, The Concorde is a real waste of time. Simplistic special effects, a planeload of stereotypes and a plot which makes no sense at all. Siskel and Ebert hated it! So this set is definitely worth getting for the first 3.

Sound could have been better, otherwise a Classic Sci-Fi Film!
I remember seeing this film in the theatre in 1982 when it first came out. My friends and I absolutely loved it! Now over 30 years later I wanted my own copy, especially now since I just hooked up my home theater with surround sound. The film is just as exciting now as it was then but I am a little disappointed with the sound - it is Dolby Digital, not surround sound. I also have The Empire Strikes Back on DVD and it is formatted in 5.1 surround sound which sounds MUCH better than ST 2. That's why it only gets 4 stars and not 5. Disc 1 has the movie and disc 2 has special features including interviews with the cast (Ricardo Montalban is the best!), a video piece on designing Kahn, visual effects and the original theatrical trailer. I think the second disc would have been a lot better if they included the original Star Trek episode Space Seed which this movie is based on. Otherwise this 2-disc set will be a fine addition to your sci-fi collection.
