I am interested in researching global environmental problems along with substance use and abuse issues. I am particularly interested in studying social issues and indicators of social decline in the western world. Specific research interests lie in analyzing affective constructs of human behavior such as self-esteem, values, attitudes and behaviors. I have a special interest in environmental pollution and social decline that results. Problems associated with natural and man-made disasters as they relate to overall decline of quality of life issues are of particular interest to me.

I have been involved in the music business for over 40 years as a performer and writer. I have also been involved in teaching at both the high school and university level for over 35 years. I have been involved in numerous conferences as a presenter. I have published numerous articles that have appeared in major journals throughout the United States. I have taught at the university level at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, University of Iowa, California State University at Los Angeles, Pepperdine University and Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Shepherd is my alma mater! I hold a BA Degree from Shepherd College and a Masters Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I earned my Ph.D at the University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa. I have had additional studies at MIT in Cambridge, University of Missouri at Kansas City, University of Northern Iowa and Clark College at Atlanta University in Georgia.

I provide training for educators, health professionals, law enforcement personnel and other groups in the area of substance use and abuse prevention and treatment and environmental education. I avail myself to teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in colleges and universities in the above mentioned disciplines. My fees for such services are congruent with regular rates of pay for the Ph.D scale.
