Great pro camera at a bargain price.
5 of 5 found this helpful I bought this camera because I wanted a pro body at an inexpensive price. These cameras can be found for less than 400$ on Ebay these days. So far the pictures look pretty good despite me not having any great lenses. The camera only has 8 megapixels but that is plenty for normal pictures. This camera has tons of features and custom settings, most of which I do not know how to use yet. The camera can use sd or cf memory cards which is nice. This camera is quite large and heavy but I knew that and I don't mind. It feels and obviously is very high quality. It looks cool too. This camera is very water resistant also which is a nice bonus. As for the value I think for the bargain prices these go for now they are a great deal.
This camera has a few very minor drawbacks. This camera cannot use EF-S lenses, only standard EF lenses. It is a bit confusing at first to use. It does not have a built in flash. This is the most awesome camera I have ever owned.

Great camera for the price.
I purchased this cute little camera for use in my sisters wedding along with several other similar cameras. I plan on using them instead of disposable film cameras. These cameras can be found on Ebay for less than $30 each in good condition. These cameras are great for their very low price though they do have some drawbacks. The auto focus can struggle in less than ideal lighting situations. The battery door opens too easily. There is some shutter lag so this camera is not too good for fast movements or sports. This camera does use a special lithium ion battery which can be inconvenient if you only has one and it dies on you, though spare generic batteries can be purchased for a few dollars each. This camera only has 3x optical zoom but that is much better than some very cheap cameras that only have digital zoom. This camera uses standard sd cards so that is a plus. These cameras can do video but I never use that feature so i cannot say how well that works. Overall I think this camera is good for basic snapshots or an inexpensive kids camera.

Great inexpensive dslr. Great value.
6 of 6 found this helpful I am normally a Canon guy and have several Canon bodies and lenses but was curious about Nikon. I saw this little guy and at the price of less than 350$ for a refurbished camera and lens I had to get it.
First thing I notice is the lens attaches in the opposite way compared to Canon. The little main dial is by the thumb verses by the pointing finger as on Canon. I find both easy to use but some people may have a preference. This little camera has a resolution of 24 megapixels which is a bit more than even my best Canon body the 6D at 20 mp. I played around with it and took some pictures. Even with the kit lens they looked excellent. I actually think I might like the shutter button better than the ones on my Canons. It seems more snappy or something. Some people may compare this camera with Canon's Rebel T5 which is about the same price. Even as a Canon guy this is the better camera.
The good points
Excellent price and value.
Excellent picture quality.
Super easy to use.
Small and lightweight.
Can use any older F mount Nikon lenses without adaptors, though you will need to manually focus old lenses or any non AF-S lenses.
1080 at 60 fps video.
The bad points.
No touchscreen or tilting screen.
No built in wifi or gps.
Bit plasticky though no worse than Canon entry level bodies.
No autofocus during video as on Canon 70D.
Very basic autofocus system though has worked fine for me so far.
In summary an excellent basic first dslr or upgrade from a point and shoot camera. Excellent value for money.
