As a fan of Russell?s I really enjoyed the film.
He did another wonderful performance. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR. I REMEMBER THE MORNING THE NOMINATION WERE ANNOUNCED, THE CROWD GRASPED WHEN HIS NAME WAS NOT READ. HE DESERVED IT!!
Other actors did good jobs with their roles.
Great film to look at.
Another good job by Peter Weir. Not his best work, that would be in ?Witness?.
Film was a bit over long. DID NOT NEED THE SHORT SCENE, YES EVEN IF IT WAS THIS SHORT, THERE WE HAVE TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SHIPS CREW DURING THE STORM. Also, did not need the scene of the surgery on young Blakeney
.
Good extras on the DVD package.
I have not been able to get the better DVD package. Would like to see that.

Works OK BUT quality problem
I have to get used to a wide screen monitor. To me the wide screen is wasted on a monitor UNLESS you are watching a DVD. I rarely do, so the effect is wasted.
NO instruction book with it OF COURSE. Just a large page which is supposed to be FOR you to install & set up. Mine came with a weird cable that DOES NOT FIT ANYWHERE ON MY OLD HP COMPUTER.
As said NO instruction book. So, HP what is the deal with this cable.
The menu button is hidden underneath the front of the screen. Key word here UNDERNEATH. I do NOT like this here. I would rather have them on the front.
The menu is confusing. Remember again NO INSTRUCTION BOOK to explain things.
I was able to fix one of the problems with it by using the HP website but the unsolved problem remains.
I use Word Pad ALL THE TIME. I use the color fonts ALL THE TIME. Colors on the Word Pad or Micro Soft Task Launcher do NOT look like they are supposed to. Orange looks like red. Purple does not look good, dark red, brown also look wrong.
Now, you would think with the menu you could fix this with brightness or something. Nope. HP website ONLY stated the cables are not installed properly. WRONG.
So, I would say the monitor is OK, but with the things I mentioned above, I can NOT rate this more than a 3 out of best 5.

5 rating for the FILM PACKAGE BETTER THAN BLU/RAY
I am a DVD person Have been for 10 years now
My review below from the 2002 DVD Platinum Edition
Disney should be ashamed of themselves that they think everyone is going Blu Ray
Machines & discs WAY MORE EXPENSIVE.
In 2010 Disney did the same thing they did in 2009 with the Diamond edition of Snow White Blu ray pack in October & WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT OUR CUSTOMERS regular DVD package Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
I hope that Disney LOST A LOT OF SALES BECAUSE OF THIS. I KNOW I AM NOT HAPPY
2 days to go out & buy it before the sale is over for release.
Since I am a DVD NOT blu/ray person this version is MUCH BETTER than the blu/ray combo pack/Diamond Edition released October 2010.
As with the 2002 DVD package there are 3 version of the films, disc 1 and has commentary.
Disc 2 the extras. MUCH BETTER THAN BLU/RAY WHERE YOU COULD NOT WATCH EXTRAS WITHOUT THE BLU/RAY PLAYER.
You can see I am venting about Disney releasing this title on 2 different days. MAKES NO SENSE & AS STATED ABOVE I HOPE DISNEY LOST SALES DUE TO THIS 2 DIFFERENT DAYS OF RELEASE.
ON THE FILM
A true classic & beloved film!!
Excellent story, characters & music.
The first animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Like many other Disney films, it was such a shame the category of Best Animated Film was not done for this year.
Never get tired of watching the film.
I do enjoy the DVD version of the film. I always enjoy making of & behind the scenes segments.
