Find something more modern
I suppose for an older network this might be ok, but it will only allow FAT32 formatting, and therefore is useless for large files (like for the "media server"). In addition it's USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet so this was a hot item ten years ago, but no so much now.

2 X NTN7143 NTN7144 Battery for MOTOROLA HT1000 HT6000 MTS2000 MT2000 MTX9000

Worthless junk
First, these are NOT NiMh, but NiCd. Strike one. Charge them fully and try to use them, on an HT1000's that perform well. Watch these cheap, junk, mislabeled batteries last... 37 minutes. Strike two. Charge fully, check for proper voltage - 7.3v so close enough. Then they die after... 35 minutes Strike three. A better choice would be to take the money you might want to spend on these, and just throw it in the trash, because that's what you will be doing with these "batteries" anyway.
OEM Motorola + Mount RLN4884B Vehicle Battery Charger for XTS, MT, HT Radios

Simple, rugged, stick with Mother M
Can't go wrong using genuine Motorola. It's a vehicle charger, and it.. charges :) The mount would probably hold your weight if the mount surface was sturdy enough, so if you do use it, pick a good spot. I hardly ever use the lanyard, as the fit of an XTS is snug enough to hold it well.
