Two Studios of Thought
As an artist with a biology ecology background – I find myself creating work nearly everywhere I go. One place I enjoy painting is in my garden. With a lovely wild flower bed that attracts: hummingbirds, song birds, bees, butterflies, voles, moles, squirrels, deer and even a black bear once (he enjoyed the bounty in the compost pile) – there is always something to create – the challenge can be making a choice! Then there is my Queensland, Australia Studio – where I take a backpack, pre-cut paper, art supplies and enjoy the gifts of the rainforest. So whether it's in a comfortable indoor setting or out on location (garden, beach or rainforest) their is always art to be created.
Business InformationHistory/background
For many years, my work as a biologist involved the husbandry of tropical fish with a specialty in sharks at a marine research center. For over 20 yrs I have also been involved in art related studies including: scientific illustration, graphic art, operating an offset printer and creating fine art illustrations and paintings. Blending my science education and artistic talent has been a magical experience for me. The name coral2cove was derived from one of my favorite locations on the Coral Sea to a quaint little cove (Pirate's Cove) in a small bay of Puget Sound. In October 2005 I began producing ACEO's here on eBay and I love every aspect of these tiny colorful collectibles. Many times, I research a subject for several days before creating an image - that's the scientist in me. Other times I 'see' something that is appealing and my artistic passions take over! But no matter how it happens - I truly love painting and spreading a bit of joy through my work.
