GENIOUS! A cult classic you've GOT to own!
At the time this movie was released, few people really "got" the absolute genius of Mike Meyers. It may not have done well in the box office, but it has developed an enormous cult following of all ages. Mike's "beat" poetry as he works his way from one OCD-strangled relationship to another is hysterical. The obligatory montage scene is a joke in itself, and again, Meyers is flawlessly funny. Yet, behind the comedy is an off-beat horror story that really does give you chills and makes you have to catch your breath more than once. There are numerous hysterical cameos by the likes of Charles Grodin, Steven Wright, Phil Hartman (just call him "Vicky"), and Alan Arkin. This is truly Mike Meyers at his most original and comedic best. If you don't own this movie, "you'll be cryin' yerself to sleep tonight on your huge pilla."

Treachery at it's finest
There is nothing - NOTHING - on film quite like the moment James Woods is sitting in his car waiting for the bridge to be lowered when he happens upon that ONE pack of smokes he'd failed to eliminate from his life. Every frame of this scene is platinum. From the way he looks around to see if he's being watched to the defiant little smile and cackle he lets out as he lights up his first smoke in days. PERFECTION. From there, it's a very quick trip to hell for this poor guy as he learns how effective Quitters Incorporated can be. Drew Barrymore plays several different roles in the wrap-around tale of the adventures of a cat who wanders from story to story - sometimes intricately involved in the plot; sometimes just a minor side note. Cat's Eye is a brilliant movie of the many faces of treachery. It's horror is drawn from the dark side that resides within each of us. It asks the question, "What would YOU do if ..." and goes on to play out precisely what most of us would do, and the cost of those choices. Don't get me wrong - this movie isn't about extolling the virtues of any certain morals, but of exploring the dark places we wouldn't choose to go unless we didn't HAVE a choice. It answers the question, "And THEN what...?" An awesome and fast-paced collection of short tales that will leave you mentally haunted and wanting more.

Excellent psych-outs!
"It" is like so many of the stories that have made Stephen King THE Master. Though his work is extraordinarily difficult to translate into a movie-length script, all of the key elements of this awesome weird-out story were covered in the movie. I don't care what anyone else says - Tim Curry was FEROCIOUS as Pennywise the Clown. If your definition of horror is a good slasher flick, don't bother with this (or any) Stephen King story. He's all about taking you by the hand and walking you into the darkest depths of the forest, then just leaving you there to see what you do. It's all about the psychology of the thriller and real horror. Bloody BRILLIANT if you like a little story and some chills with your blood and slashing.
