Sharper than the previous version.
2 of 2 found this helpful I own the previous version as well and bought this lens to compare. I was honesty hoping there wasn't a big enough difference between this one and the older version in sharpness, so that I could return it and save the money. There was an undeniable difference in sharpness, flare resistance, and ca. I kept the lens and sold the older version. The new G2 is as sharp as my 50mm 1.8g and 35mm 1.8g prime lenses. Now I don't even carry the primes... Im able to make up the difference in light with the awesome VC... It allows me to hand hold at ridiculously low shutter speeds. I can now only see myself using the 35 or 50 if I want a more shallow depth of field.

Doesn't work at all.
0 of 1 found this helpful Description says is compatible with d850 and d810 but even after fully charging, the battery light flashes immediately upon installing in camera and it will not power up. Do not buy this product.
