Business InformationHistory/background
The ebannok store provides a space for Hill Tribe women to develop their handicraft, business and marketing skills. The project provides an income for them and their families, protecting them from exploitation.
Hill Tribe people live in areas of Southeast Asia, including Northern Thailand. These tribes often have their own unique customs, languages, religions and ways of life. The ebannok project works to preserve the culture of the Hill Tribe people, especially the traditional crafts.
The signature product of the ebannok store is the clay whistle. The Akha people originally used clay whistles while hunting. The clay now represents the earth and the simplicity of the Hill Tribe lifestyle.
Thirty percent of all profits are donated to the Mirror Foundation, a Thai Non-Government Organization working in Chiang Rai Province. It aims to help Hill Tribe people to adapt to the modern world while retaining their traditional culture.
