Terrific camera, but get a tripod
4 of 4 found this helpful I have been shooting with a Canon 5D Mk2 and a multitude of lens for almost 6 years. I shoot a lot of sports events, and it has become annoying to lug the stuff around all the time. The Nikon P900 has really lived up to all the hype, and seems to be able to replace a bag full of lenses and to do it well. The lens on the Nikon is sharp throughout the zoom range and the full extension at 2000mm produced some incredible shots of the moon. There are a couple of things I wish the camera had, such as a bigger sensor, the ability to produce RAW files, and a connection for an external flash, but other than that, the P900 seems to do its job very well. Be sure to get a solid tripod and a remote shutter release for shooting at extreme telephoto lengths. Even the pressure of pushing on the shutter release will blur a shot at 2000mm. Finally, I bought my camera for $549, so the price is really good for a camera of this capability. Highly recommended.
