My husband and I are both retired and work together on eBay. My husband comes from a family of pack-rats and we only sell items from our own family's estates so we are familiar with each item and its history. When possible, we try to give some of this history in our write-ups so our bidders will know more about the items. We research as much as we can but are certainly not 'experts' about all of the items we sell. We are very easy to deal with and will try to answer any questions you have. Comments from knowledgeable eBayers are always welcome and we always post useful ones in our listings. We spend a lot of time doing all this but believe it is time well spent. We have had a lot of fun doing this and have met some wonderful people on eBay!
Payment policy
Due to eBay's changes to payment policy, we can now only accept PayPal as payment. We have never had any problems with checks or Money Orders in the past but eBay is not giving us a choice. We are sorry as we know some of our customers would rather pay by other methods. Anyway, we always send out an eBay Invoice at auction's end and recommend buyers wait for the Invoice before paying as we can often adjust the shipping charges to save money. We don't have set 'payment must be received by' times and trust that if you won it, you will pay for it.
Shipping information
We live close to our Post Office so we use the US Postal Service for shipping. We prefer Priority Mail (free boxes) but ship First Class or Parcel Post if the cost is less. Because of our proximity to the Post Office, we usually ship the day we receive payment - at worst, the very next day. We always notify you that we have shipped and provide tracking information if applicable. My husband does all the packing and he's very good at it. As a retired Engineer, he takes it as a challenge to beat the Postal Service's attempts to destroy everything! And we combine shipping whenever possible and will even hold an item for a week or two if requested to keep your shipping costs down on mutiple items. We do round up a little on some shipping charges to help pay for bubble wrap, tape and supplies but you won't find any outrageous 'handling' charges here.
Return policy
Again, customer satisfaction is our number one priority. Since you are bidding on things from our own family, we want you to be happy with your purchase. If for any reason you are not pleased with your item, just email us and we will work with you to resolve any problem to your satisfaction. We are not a selling 'mill' and our personalized service is one reason we have so many satisfied customers.
eBay's New Insurance Policy
Recently, eBay eliminated the shipping insurance option for buyers, stating that the seller is ultimately responsible. In every case we stand behind our service but we cannot control the shipper's service once the item leaves our hands. And because we use the auction format, we cannot predict what the final value will be so we cannot add the exact cost of insurance to the handling charges. If we feel that an item requires it, we will insure the item at OUR cost to protect us as well as the buyer. Sometimes, if we know we will be insuring an item, we will add a nominal amount to the shipping cost to help offset our cost. We also add Signature Confirmation on valuable shipments, again to protect both us and the buyer. In every case, we try to 'do the right thing' so you will receive your item safely and to minimize any problems. We doubt many other sellers go this far to ensure a trouble-free transaction but we feel it is well worth it.
