THE book to have if you enjoy technical theater
I absolutely LOVE the book- some people say that there isn't enough info in this book and I do agree I wish there was more info on certain things- but then again, there is only so much you can cram into one book and this one touches on some very simple things as well as a whole host of detailed descriptions and illustrations- it is THE Holy Bible of Backstage theater... A must-have!

Perfect little MiniDV camcorder for those quick events
I absolutely LOVE the Panasonic MiniDV PV-GS31! For a camera that came out in 2004 (I believe) it still holds its own in the marketplace for its size and recording capabilities... You won't find many bells and whistles on this camera and no "fun" stuff (digital effects, animations, chroma key functions, etc) BUT where this camera excels is its size, ability to use as a fancy webcam, built in light and FINALLY a camcorder that opens from the TOP (so no need to remove from a tripod when changing tapes!) Its compact design won't exactly fit in a shirt pocket but it's still small enough to take just about anywhere and not pose a weight or size problem. I own a Canon XL1-s camcorder and bought this used Panasonic PV-GS31 camcorder as a way to transfer video to the computer without putting extra wear and tear on the Canon XL1s ' heads... In the end I wound up realizing that I would use this camcorder for that plus so so so much more- such as showing up at a friend's house party and not wanting to lug along the huge camcorder for fun silly stuff- But the best part is the video quality might not be exactly wedding-quality, BUT you will enjoy the ability to MANUALLY focus the image when you want some creativity, as well as manual control over lens shutter speed and aperature. If it broke i would easily buy another one on EBay if it were listed as in good condition- ENJOY, and I hope this helps!
