Where did the name Garrett Park Guitars come from? GPG began as a hobby business in 1981 by Rick Hogue. Rick says... I was then employed in medical sales in the Washington D.C. area. Vintage guitars were bought, and sold locally at this point mainly in the DC metropolitan area. In 1982, I attended the Greater Southwest guitar show in Dallas, Texas for the first time. While there, I met collectors from across the US as well as many foreign collectors & dealers. At about the same time, I wanted to establish a business mailing address for buyers to correspond with him about vintage guitars. I visited the Kensington, Maryland post office to inquire about post office boxes for rent, and was told that they were sold out. The postal personnel refered me to the Post office in Garrett Park, Maryland, which had boxes for rent. The business was in need of a name, and Garrett Park Guitars had a certain ring to it, thus was born Garrett Park Guitars or GPG.
