Machines, like people, wear out!!
I purchased the HP ScanJet to back up one that was moved from my office to my house when I retired. Like me, the original has the best of intentions, but sometimes things don't work like they used to.
My hobby has always been the collection of sportscards. The scanner enables me to provide potential buyers with a very accurate depiction of a card's condition Condition, with cards, like location in real estate, is everything. So far, I haven't had one return from a customer for overstating the condition of a card. That makes us both happy!!
My original scanner continues to work. Thanks to the vast market of Ebay though, I'm prepared for the day when it, like me, says "enough, I've worked long enough."
