I opened my business in October of 02. It is called Grama's Gourds and Primitives. The reason I called it Grama's Gourds and Primitives is because my grandmother passed away and I brought all of her gourds with me and thought maybe I will do something with them. Well I also picked up her paint books and paint and thought maybe I will learn to paint. She tried teaching me for years but I just wasn't as good as her and it was frustrating I couldn't understand what she was trying to teach me. Until she passed away, it seemed all those things she was telling me just sunk in and I painted a Snowman gourd and low and behold I thought well i'll show it to my neighbors. They all wanted one and that's where it started. Grama's Gourds they got me going. Sometimes I think she has a hand on my hand when I paint because they always just turn out. Even the things that I think I could never paint that, it just turns out. My grandma was my best friend and I truely miss her but I carry her on
