Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
Totally changed my way of thinking about death. Always thought that when I go I would not like any fancy funeral and wanted to be creamated and tossed into a river or my flower bed of something. After reading this book, I came to see what it means to the people who have the loss. It's not about the person who died, it's for the people who stay. It helps them to have a nice funeral for the loved one, and it is nice to have a grave so you can know where they are. Now, I go to funerals sometimes, just to help fill the church, because when people spend a long time dying, everyone forgets them, friends and such, and not many people come and it makes the people who loved them feel sad. So when I have time, I just go, now and again, it doesn't take long and it's a good deed. I know this is strange, but you'd have to read the book to understand how that 21 year kid felt when not many people came to his mom's funeral because she spent a year or so dying from cancer and most of her friends sort of forgot about her. Very moving and intense story, I recommend it to everyone. The 21 year old took custody of his 8 year old brother and raised him right, even though he was just a kid himself. greykittie

Style at Large - Knitting for Real Women by Noble
This is a grand book, it's filled with knitting patterns for the larger woman. It says the size range is up to 2x, but the sizes go up to 60 inches around. the guage is easy to achieve, 5 sts to the inch, 4 sts to the inch, She uses fancy yarns, but the guage is something you can pick up at the local store. The styles are good basic styles you would feel comfortable wearing around town, I hate having my clothes "wear me". I like something that someone would say, "that's a pretty sweater" not something that all the time the other person is talking, they are looking at the sweater with this odd look on their face. I believe the worst thing someone ever said to me was "I would never think to wear those 2 colors together". Gahh! Don't worry, I got even!
