History/background
Object-Symbol Resource is based on the exciting prospect that effective systems of communication can be developed for individuals not yet able to use more abstract methods. Based on extensive work with families and care providers, school districts and government agencies, I recognized that many non-verbal individuals failed to respond to communication systems based on pictures, line drawings, photographs or words. Using object-symbols, however, these same individuals were able to develop and successfully engage in two-way communication often for the first time in their lives.
