Ginger Baker in Africa
Given the fact that Baker and friend/cameraman drove across the Sahara desert in a Land Rover to make this film, (1971),negates the usual moaning about film and sound quality. This is a journey that is a bare bones safari into The Middle of Nowhere! The jamming/drumming is certainly interesting, and the players were really into the camera, but the actual music (?) is hard to make out in most cases, it's just bedlam! The most interesting aspect of this DVD is Baker's narration, and he brings some education into the visual stream. The Sweet Things dancers really bring booty shakin' to a new level, and God knows it must have been a million degrees in that bar! This was a couragous idea of a movie, surely underfunded, but I am bringing this to the next video night with my friends: No one will have anything like it!

The Bird Decoy An American Art Form 1976 HC Johnsgard catalog of carvings duck

Good Reference for Classic Decoy Fans
This book features black and white photos of many classic regional decoys, with some important info often left out of other books on this subject: Size, I.E.: length in inches. Maker (Birth and Death dates) and approximate year decoy made if known. As a decoy maker for over 45 years, I can appreciate these facts and get a better picture (pun intended) while doing research should I need a pattern as a reproduction or illustration. The photos are OK, but almost all of these decoys have been featured in full color in other publications through the years, so a little digging will reward you with fine color photos.
