32SII Good buy
The 32Sii was my first HP calculator, and remains among my favorite of all time. Despite being replaced with larger and more capable successors, the large 1-line LCD numeric display and the direct keyboard access for most features made using the HP 32sii blazing fast!! The modest memory size is still plenty for small programming tasks, and the built in solver was a handy feature on many exams. The earlier 5-footed versions have historically shown to be of better manufacture that the later (brown and sliver bezel) three-footed models. I would recommend looking for mid 90's models, with 5 feet and minimal wear. The manual for the 32sii is also very well written- a recommended reference for first time users. Those who like a 2-line display can look for the more capable (and more expensive) HP42S. The features are also very similar to the HP32S which preceded the 32sii.

41CX: the perfect tool for math science and programming
The HP 41CX, much like the earlier 41C and 41CV versions is one of the best Scientific calculators ever built. The 41CX adds the Extended Functions/Extended Memory, Time module, and QUAD memory to the original HP 41C design. The 41CX is expandable with hundreds of modules made by HP, CMT, and other Companies. The Wand allows barcode program entry, the HP-IL module allows communication with RS232 adapters and GPIO devices. You can also buy printers, IR modules, data collectors, and many other unique peripherals. Even in 2012, there are custom peripherals still made for the HP 41C, 41CV, and 41CX Family, including the PIL-Box - a USB to HPIL converter, the CLONIX and NoVRAM modules. The HP41CX is also popular for emulation on the iPhone, Android OS Phones, and several PC platforms. The HP41CX is one of the best RPN calculators ever made. For a more modern version, see the HP 42S, which is largely compatible with HP 41CV programs.

The Art of Computer Programming Boxed Set- 5 Stars!
Dr Knuth masterfully and beautifully typesets his "piece de resistance"- the art of computer programming. As of 2010 these books came in three- or four-volume Book sets. Below is a list of the volumes and most current edition: * Volume 1-Fundamental Algorithms (Third Edition) * Volume 2- Seminumerical Algorithms (Third Edition) * Volume 3- Sorting and Searching (Second Edition) * Volume 4A- Combinatorial Algorithms ( Fasicles 0-4 or the Volume 4 Hardback) Although the 3- and 4- book boxed sets demand a pricey MSRP of $200 and $250 respectively, the new box sets can be still be considered a good investment. After watching on ebay for some weeks, I bought all 4 Volumes for barely $110. Ebay saved me more than 50%. If you don't mind digging through the errata on Kunth's website (Goole "TAOCP errata"), you can pick up the older editions for a nominal cost savings.
