Nib block
I'm not sure what it is made of, I thought it was acrylic, but I am not sure. I accidentally spilled alcohol on it which caused a milky-white residue to form on the plastic that came in contact with the alcohol. It did not affect its function. I thought it was slightly overpriced for what it is, but at the same time they are impossible to find and so it is worth the money to me. I believe metal would have been better but who can afford that. I've used it to straighten out a few nibs, it worked well enough, a lot has to do with the smoothness of your burnishing tool and the skill of the burnisher :)
