I am a musician (and photographer) living in Western Michigan. I perform in classical and jazz styles on trumpet and voice. I recently finished a doctorate degree in music from Boston University.

I got a pickup truck load (literally) of vinyl albums a few years ago from Dean College in Franklin, MA, where I was teaching music appreciation. It's an amazing collection and range of things. It will probably take forever to go through them, but it's such a pleasure to listen to each one as I prepare the listing.

Nothing by choice, but many things by default.

Photography, biking and skiing (when I can overcome inertia). Mostly playing with my five-year old daughter.

After visiting Sam Clemens's house in Hartford, CT, I've been working my way through as many of his works as I can: Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Roughing It, the Prince and the Pauper, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Life on the Mississippi. Great stuff.

Lately: George Clooney flics, Orson Welles's work, The Bicycle Thief, The Incredibles (great soundtrack with screamin' trumpets), The Simpsons Movie

Louis Armstrong (the topic of my dissertation), Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis, any soulful black gospel

The Family Guy, The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, Sunday morning political shows, Bill Moyers, 60 Minutes (although it's lighter since Hewitt left).

Most anything is fine.

Anything inexpensive.
