Born 1979 in South Mississippi, Jonathan Smith developed an early appreciation for Art and Illustration. With Summer visits to his Grandmother's Studio in his Father's Hometown of Collins, Mississippi, his interest, curiosity, and love for Art was progressing. His Grandmother, is a well known Southern Painter. She would provide daily lessons in Impressionism, Realism, Art Techniques, and Theory. This would only fuel his intense curiosity for Art, crave more, and the need to keep improving, and developing his own personal style. He would spend many hours watching her work, as she would discuss the great freedoms of painting ,and the masters who laid the foundation for Art in the Modern World. The visits with his Grandmother would prove to Greatly influence his work, along with the passion and love the Art world.
