InterestsImportant Issues To Consider When Purchasing Art
1. Buying Art from reputable Art Dealers provides maximum long term benefits.
2. Many Fine Art Collectors don't realize the importance of Condition until it is too late.
3. Fine Art Collectors who only make decisions based on price alone often make costly mistakes.
4. Authentication by arms length Experts is essential and Buyers need to be certain to only purchase fine art from established Art Professionals who can stand behind their merchandise and can be located should a third party expert be in conflict concerning Authenticity.
5. A significant portion of eBay Fraud could be eliminated if eBay hired Department Experts to review and consequently remove the counterfeits lots.

Buyers Often Overlook Condition When They Buy Art
The issue of an Art Work's condition is frequently overlooked by buyers.
A Work of Art in pristine condition is always worth considerably more than a Work that has been torn, repaired, faded, erased, or reduced in size. In fact, many eBay Sellers never include condition statements in their lot description, forcing the Buyer to guess, or ask the Seller a question. When the information is not provided in the eBay Lot Description, don't assume the Condition is excellent.
Since eBay offers no substantive protection, no COA offered by a Seller who actually doesn't have the authority to write one, will ever hold up, so don't kid yourself, especially if they aren't even a legitimate business. A COA is usually just a worthless piece of paper written in an attempt to convince purchase and too often they are provided by Fraudulent Sellers who only offer Fakes, Counterfeits or Works of art that are actually impaired.
Fine Art or Fake Art?
eBay takes NO position regarding quality, authenticity, accuracy and condition of Lots sold. Sometimes the eBay Buyer is seduced into buying Fake Art but realizes after receipt.
eBay takes absolutely no responsibility regarding Counterfeits and Fakes as many eBay Sellers continue to deceive the eBay Buyer. As a result, the eBay Buyer is routinely seduced into buying FAKE ART.
Sometimes a Seller will state that their eBay lot is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity, also known as a COA. Buyers should recognize that the inclusion of a meaningless COA doesn't instantly change a Fake Work of Art into being an Authentic Work of Art. Put another way, the inclusion of a COA cannot magically TRANSFORM a counterfeit, reproduction, photo copy, etc., that is worthless, into a Genuine Fine Art; it is impossible. And it is happening so often eBay should make formally include a designation for these FAKE ART DEALERS who favor selling Fakes.
