This is one fine watch, although some people say they have a hard time reading it. After you have one, it becomes second nature at least I would think so!
A regulateur is a watch in which the primary functions are separated into distinct dials. Typically, the arrangement is to have a sub-seconds, sub-hours and central minutes allowing for a more precise read of the individual functions. Whether or not this is true in practice is up to the user, but what it does do is provide much greater emphasis on the minute hand.
A regulator has three separate dials for the three hands so that no hand obstructs the time-telling of another hand. It is designed for absolute accuracy in setting a particular time on another timepiece. This helped doctors when doctors still made house calls as an absolute part of their trade, they used watches to measure a patient's pulse. This is easier with a Regulator since the hour hand doesn't get in the way of the minute/second hands with regards to overlapping.
