JETSTREAM JTCS2M 2 POSITION ANTENNA COAX COAXIAL SWITCH w/ SO-239 DC-1GHz 2KW
May 28, 2019
Excellent!
This coaxial switch is an excellent product. Its value depends on your application. I have separate off the air UHF and VHF antennas feeding my TV. Prior to the early April 2019 TV channel remapping (as a result of the US auctioning off frequencies above 600Mhz to LTE/5G wireless services), I only need an UHF antenna. Now some HDTV broadcast channels are moved to VHF. I could have used a high quality HUF/VHF combiner with separate UHF and VHF filters, but then I would incur 2-3db signal loss on my TV signal reception. I chose to go with a coaxial switch since this particular unit only lose 0.1db above 500Mhz and 0.05db below that, a negligible loss. This switch has SO-239 inputs (2) and output (1) so you will need to get SO-239 connector adapters to connect your RG6 cables to it. Please note not all coaxial switches are created equal, some present greater signal loss. This particular switch is of very high quality.

Very good product with a cumbersome end user interface
I bought Samsung DTB-H260F to basically cut the "cord" although I keep verizon FiOS for Internet access. I select this particular product because it has HDMI as well as component ouputs. My LCD TV can support up to 1080p and given OTA programming can be 1080i, HDMI is nice. I live in the NY Metro area and I need to capture programming over both UHF and VHF. I have separate UHF and VHF antennas installed in the attic of my colonial old house. Signal sensitivity of the Samsung product is good. I am very pleased with the image quality. The H260F runs reasonably warm but not hot like competing products; hopefully this bodes well for product longevity given electronic component lives are halved for every 10 degrees temperature rise. Where the H260F fell down is in the user interface. You have to look inside the menus to get the channel signal strength. Even worse is the access to the programming guide.

Under-rated camera with excelent value
The ist DS is an excellent value, if not a top value in DSLR. You can get a DS body from Tri-State for just $360, and that is how I did. It has one of the best DSLR viewfinder out there, very large and very bright. It is a pentaprism which is also more expensive to manufacture. The 2.5-inch LCD has excellent resolution and brightness. The body feels very solid, although the plastic could benefit from a better feel. The build quality is not on a par with a Kodak DCS 760 or an Olympus E-1 but it matches and in some aspect is better than the Olympus E-330 or the Fuji S3. It does feel like a rock. The DS is also very small, almost the same size as the Olympus C-8080, and for sure smaller than a Panasonic FZ 50 for example. Controls are well laid out. The handling is excellent. I could take sharp photos hand held down to even 1/8 of second! But the shutter release requires a rather firm push (firmer than the Olympus DSLRs). The shutter and mirror also puts out a louder noise than the E-1/E-330. I only used it in RAW (PEF format) but Adobe Camera raw or Silypix can open it easily. The image quality is as good as any 6MP DSLR out there, no doubt much better than any points and shoots (even the Ricoh GRD or the Leica D-lux cannot match). Pentax lenses are relatively cheap and there are some jewels out there. Pentax optical reputation predates by decades those of Canon L series or Nikon. Of japanese optics, Pentax optics are at one time renowned as Leica or Zeiss. I have the FA50mm F1.4 (one of the very best 50mm fast lens), the FA 35mm (which is a top notch normal lens, and I like it even better than the 50mm) and also, the FA 24mm F2.0 which is ultra sharp. One aspect of pentax lenses I always like as with my Ollie lenses or the Angenieux are the nice smooth bokeh that thaey can produce. Nikon lenses are tack sharp but not as much to my taste. If there is one aspect I would have prefer the DS to have is to offer mode adjustability in the pictures. Unlike the E-1 where I can go in a tweak ad infinitum the JPEGs, you only have access to saturation, contrast and sharpness in the menu settings like some of the better P/S. Also, autofocus speed is a bit slow, however, it is highly precise. I have owned my fair share of DSLRs, Olympus E-1, E-330, Fuji S3 Pro, Kodak DCS 460, DCS 720X, DCS 760 and I feel the DS is clearly among the better 6MP DSLRs out there. Go out and buy one, you will not regret it.
