Yes that is me in the picture looking at a dry lake bed. A lake that was behind my house when I bought it. So I am doing this for my community and most of all my family. This is a non-profit org and I work for free in this venture.

Lake Tara's Nature Habitat 501(c)3 was formed due to the fact that the county, I live in seeked out the family members that used to own the land where our 17 acre lake and 10 acres surrounding it set. The lake is in the middle of a subdivision with over 166 homes. In the 1930's this family did own it but their father/Grandfather gave it to this subdivision in our covenant in 1952. In the process of contacting the family the county led them to believe that they owned the property by just telling them to bring in the death certificate of their father/grandfather and they could quit-claim the property to each other and they did. The county changed the records from public property to private property and the damage begun.Then in june of 2004 the grandson decided to dredge the dam and drained most of our community lake. we went to court and won the lake bed. SO WE ARE RAISING MONEY TO TURN THE OLD LAKE BED N TO A PUBLIC FISHING LAKE/PARK. WE NEED ABOUT $300,000.00 TO COMPLETE IT.

I was in my new house for 3 months when the lake that butted my back yard was going away and all because of a quit-claim deeds. YES a quit-claim deed. The Lake bed was quit-claimed and we the people have no rights to our land. We have to take people to court mound up lawyers and court fees and try to hang on to the property if we DO not go broke doing it. Quit-claim is a deed of interest only it may or may not be true. you as a citizen have to take someone to court if you believe a person has taken your property but the sad truth is that they can destroy and remove your property until you get to court. It is a kind of theft that has a loop hole in it. So we are rebuilding our community lake to a public fishing lake/park for everyone to enjoy. To remember the hard work we the citizens had to put into this because we cannot trust our local gov't and talking to people about the loop holes and educating people about your rights to your land and how not to let someone sneak in and take it.
