I've loved books all of my life. My favorite has always been fairy tales, not for the happily ever after but that so often there was the hero who has brave and smart.

Books, old and new, mostly for children. Books in lots by theme, season and type. Also books for educators, homeschool families and families who want to give their kids the best possible early literacy experience. Fairy Tales, Mother Goose, lovely old books.

Well books of course, some to sell and some to keep for myself and my own young reader who loves Shel Silverstien, Mercer Mayer, Eric Carle and books about girls doing fun and exciting things.

I sell books to get them out of my house and keep us from being completely buried. I also sell books because I feel great about putting good books into someone's home. I love it when a customer writes to say a book was a childhood favorite or their Dad's favorite. I feel connected to books and have been a journalist, author and worked in book publishing and sales for most of my life. It is a vocation for me and something I hope to do right through retirement.

Pratt Place Books was born when I needed to get rid some of my own books which were crowding us out of our small home. Most of what I sell still comes from my private collection. Every now and then I find something special to sell that isn't a book, but mostly it will remain books. I enjoy the store a great deal and prefer it to listing by auction, but for some buyers Ebay is about auctions so I try to keep a few of those going as well. And for those who ask, my brother Noel designed my logo.

Pay Pal almost always and exclusively; however, if you write and ask I will sometimes take a money order from a person with excellent feedback. Nearly always I leave wonderful positive feedback because I have the best customers; but, when I meet up with a deadbeat I will leave negative feedback even though I know the moron will leave retaliation feedback (like the other buyers can't figure out WHY they left it by looking at my excellent feedback score and comments). I am always amazed how some folks get offended when held accountable to pay for what they purchased.

I ship by Media Mail unless you request and pay for another service. My books are packed carefully and I try to recycle packing materials as much as possible. I don't ship outside the USA, international economy classes have proven unreliable and then I end up with unhappy customers, to ship by a non-economy means is simply too expensive. Plus, I live near an International border and have to deal with postal security factors in to who quickly books will arrive. I ship within 3 business days. Media mail claims to take 2-9 business days but I've discovered that 14 isn't uncommon. When counting shipping days please make sure you count only business days, weekends and holidays don't count. Also, check to see if the store is on vacation because this could delay shipment.

Contact me within 7 days of when you receive the book for a full refund. I require that books be returned and inspected before a refund is issued. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.

I price my books by doing market research on and off Ebay. Generally I look at the on-line bookselling market as a whole, but always factor in the distinctions of Ebay. I believe in offering quality books at reasonable fair market prices. A quality hardcover children's book with a dustjacket will run, easily, $18 in a bookstore. That book is a steal at 9.99; now I realize there are some sellers who will sell it for less and please, go get it from that seller rather than email me with a request to lower my price. Or, watch for when I run sales, you can get up to 20 percent off when I have a sale on a certain category. I believe books change and enrich lives, help us think more clearly and to understand our world and each other. My prices are fair and competitive, but, I don't give books away.
