Not what I expected
I'm kind of surprised that this movie made it to the '8 films to die for' list. I personally wouldn't have chosen it. You can tell immediately that this movie was made from the same kind of high budget as a student film is (in fact, it would not surprise me if it was a student film). I probably won't be watching this one again for a while, if at all, but depending on if you can really enjoy student films, it's worth a watch. The most impressive thing about the movie was probably the special effects make-up used on the 'devil' thing in the movie that you see in the beginning and end. The movie concept itself it okay, but like I said, I wouldn't have picked it as an '8 films to die for' movie. If you really want to add it to your '8 films to die for' movie collection as I did, I would suggest not paying more then $5 for it in total with shipping and all. If you just want to watch it, I would suggest either waiting till it's shown on T.V. (like the Syfy channel) or see if it's shown online.

Action, Comedy, and Greek Gods, Oh my
Percy Jackson is a not so average teenager with some major problems. It's not until his substitute teacher turns into a 'fury' and attacks him, claiming he stole Zeus's lighting bolt, that he finds out he's actually a Demi-God (half human, half god). Turns out his father, Poseidon, and Zeus are constantly fighting, and just recently, someone stole Zeus's lighting bolt, and because Poseidon himself can't steal another Gods stuff, that only leave Percy Jackson. But how can he prove his innocence and find out who really is the lighting thief? Fast paced, full of action and humor at every turn, this has already become a favorite in my household. There were no slow parts, and not much was left out from the novel. Though it is aimed more for a younger audience, it's a movie that anyone of any age can truly enjoy. It's inevitable that this movie would be compared to Harry Potter, so of course I would have to say that I would recommend this movie to ANY Harry Potter fan. The acting itself is Grade A, and Logan Lerman was a great choice for playing Percy Jackson. If anyone has seen any of his other work though, you would already know he's really good.

Too Small, but still worth a read
Nice story, but not enough character development do to the size. Still, I love all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's novels and would still recommend this book to anyone who reads her Dark/Dream Hunter series (though since these characters aren't really shown in the rest of the series so far, you really don't need to read this book in sequence with the series, it can just be a stand alone book)
