Business InformationHistory/background
A lifelong love of design and jewelry arts led Margaret Alderman Ford to return to her passion. She now has a vibrant and diversified business creating hand knotted necklaces and bracelets by combining semi-precious stones with antique medallions and watch fobs. The result is a striking one of a kind piece of jewelry. While the type stones may be the same, the medallions, fobs and clasps always set the pieces apart.
Margaret grew up in Columbia, South Carolina where she has been involved in the fashion industry since 1968. During her forty years in fashion, she embarked on a search for spirituality which culminated with certification as a Spiritual Director from the Oratory of St. Philip Neri and the Institute of Formative Spirituality of Duquesne University . Margaret passes her spirituality and passion for jewelry into each fine hand knotted piece.
While on an antique buying junket in London, Margaret fell in love with the workmanship and beauty of the Victorian and Edwardian medals and fobs.
She was inspired by the exquisite uniqueness of the jewelry on display at the British Museum and the tribute paid to the deceased through English mourning jewelry. Since her return she has tried to incorporate this sense of elegant yet sometimes simple design into her work.
Working from her studio in Columbia with the assistance of her husband, two dogs and two cats, she fully backs her workmanship. Should the hand knotting fail during the first year, return the item for free repair.
