"Steppin' Out" with Style
1 of 1 found this helpful Guitarist Daryl Stuermer's instrumental debut album, appropriately entitled 'Steppin Out', is an excellent display of sound technical performance, overall production and song writing proficiency. Primarily known for his work with Genesis and Phil Collins, this first release can be categorized as jazz fusion, though track(s) composition follows the much more structured format found in the rock/pop genre. Songs are well constructed and have an extremely polished feel. The work of the contributing musicians is also top-notch and plays as integral a part of the success of each track as Daryl's guitar play.
I originally purchased this album since I am a fan of both Genesis and Phil Collins. I was not disappointed at all. The strong composition and variation of each track is excellent. This release reminds me of David Sanborne's album "Close-Up", but with much more substance.
