Metasequoia Creek
In 1999, I named Metasequoia Creek after finding fossils in a creek bed of a small creek in the Columbia River Gorge, two miles below Bonneville Dam, along the Columbia River in Oregon. Also in 1999 I published a technical report for the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. Fossils collected from the site were shown at the Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show, where I earned a Masters Trophy in 2004, as a member of the Columbia Gorge Rockhounds. From 1997 to 2007 I was a member of the Oregon State Police 'Volunteers in the Gorge' program, mainly to protect my creek and other scenic areas from natural and man made disasters (litter mostly).
