All About MeWhat everyone should know about me
MrSawdust ... not quite a name you would associate with clocks! The name comes from my life-long hobby of woodworking. Even though my current hobby is vintage car clocks, I decided to keep my unique eBay name, as it matches my email address.

Business InformationHistory/background
I started my career servicing the old mechanical adding machines and accounting machines back in 1965 after 4 years in the USAF. In 1968 I upgraded my career and began servicing mainframe computers for a major computer manufacturer, primarily working with the automotive companies in and around Detroit (back when a meg of memory took up a whole room and cost more than you could earn in a lifetime). I continued that until I retired in 2002. I started working on Vintage Car Clocks as a hobby, in 2003 after successfully repairing my own clock in my '66 Thunderbird. I found that after working on adding and accounting machines, these clocks were much easier ... far fewer parts and yet able to use the skills from my early days.
Shipping information
My buyers have noticed that I wrap all my clocks in a soft cloth, then seal them in a plastic bag before isolating them in bubble wrap for protection. I purchase my cloth material, bubble wrap, and all other supplies and feel that this is the cost of doing business and don't believe in charging any handling fees. I use a fixed rate on my domestic clocks so you know up-front as to the charge. Based on the weight and distance of shipment, sometimes it's a little less and sometimes it's a little more, but it all seems to balance out. For international shipping, I Charge exactly what I am charged and since I do it online, there is also a small discount that is applied for these buyers.
A tribute to my Buyers
First off, thanks for all the fantastic feedback you've provided for me! I consider myself very lucky to be dealing with the Classic Car people. You have been prompt in payment, courteous in your communications and most of you have feedback of 100%! In turn, I feel that you (should) expect to be treated with courtesy and promptness. I try my best to do that, in the care I take photographing my clocks, the descriptions of my items and prompt and concise answering of any questions a potential buyer may have. Soon after I started using eBay, I took a class in HTML in order to provide professional looking pages to display my items. I take pride in what I do and yes, it's rewarding, as I've made many cyber friends in the process. If you happen to be one of my buyers reading this, your purchase is truly appreciated. For the rest of you Classic Car guys and gals, keep watching, I never know from one week to the next what clocks I'll have available.
About International Shipping
From what I've read in eBay policy, it appears that the world is looking closely at the International eBay shipments from the United States. I feel it would compromise my integrity to claim a lesser value on the Declarations Form or claim Gift on any of my shipments. If I show dishonesty in this area, would I not also be possibly considered dishonest in other areas? I do not work that way! Most all that I sell is restored or refurbished, but that does not change the fact that it is used, so I can (and do) state Used on all my international shipments. Even being an NOS item, since I am not the original owner, it is still considered used to me. My International buyers can attest to the fact that about 99% of the time I hit the shipping charge with the exact shipping cost. I use a shipping scale to weigh the item after it is packed prior to getting a quote. I also use PayPal for shipping, which provides for you, an online shipping discount. I'll be sure you're treated honestly and fairly.
