I love beautiful, feminine things and have only recently begun to really indulge myself in them.

I sell beautiful things that make me smile...cosmetics, jewelry, and pretty vintage items, when I can find them. And soon my growing collection of vintage compacts will be spilling over into my store. But the main focus of Great Expectations is discounted makeup, skin care, and perfume. I'm especially fond of those promotional, gift with purchase, trial and travel size treats. I love getting to know different brands, be they Sephora standards or be they botique makeup lines I've never heard of before, but at the top of the train case, so to speak, (all 11 of them actually), are my three signature brands, Estee Lauder, Lancome, and Clinique.

I love high-end makeup and am building quite a palette! Besides my three standards (see above!), I adore Smashbox and Urban Decay, Sisley skin care, and Thierry Mugler fragrances. Other than makeup, most of my purchases are vintage compacts. It feels like I started collecting compacts about two minutes ago, but they're all over the house now, spilling out of boxes, crowding shelves on stands, heaped up on the table by the couch...how did this happen?!? And then there's the place where two of my favorite things collide: Estee Lauder compacts! I also went on a recent neoclassical-themed buying binge while redecorating a guest powder room...I call it the GrecoRomanstrosity!

Different editions of Alice in Wonderland. Vintage compacts and other vanities. Train cases. Charms for what is becoming a VERY heavy charm bracelet. Picture frames. Needlepoint kits that I never seem to have time to work on! Enameled bangles. I'm fond of vintage and antique items, but any shiny, pretty thing can catch my attention. My husband says I'm a bit like a crow in that way!
