Business Information

History/background
Our company was founded in 1967 by Oma Ferchow, as a church quilting group. William took over in 1986 due to Oma's health issues. He ran this business until it was discontinued in 1999 due to family pressures. He reestablished it in 2006 , and we started again where we left off. This year we will be celebrating our 41st year. This company has operated in many places over the years , such as Branson,Mo, Gatlinburg,Tn and many amish areas throught the country , in Pennsylvania , Iowa , Illinois , Indiana , Missouri to name but a few. Our mission has been to create the absolute highest quality quilts , at affordable prices. What we sell are not the mass produced quilts Made in China,of marginal quality and having their tags removed to fool the end consumer , they are lovingly created by local women , who love the art of quilt making and are enjoying the community that the quilting creates letting them come together for a common purpose.

Projects that we support
William has been intimately involved in bringing the art of quilt making to disadvantaged people in other parts of the world. On a recent trip to Central America, I saw firsthand that the local population of this region had no way to make a living for themselves(beyond Coffee harvest). This being the case I introduced the local women(and a few men) to the art of quilt making. At this time I have started a school to teach this art to them, with the hope of their being able to be in charge of their own destinies,by making and selling their own artwork. At present 45 women have completed these classes, these people are now training 40 more, and we have applications for over 180 more at present.(all this in a small community) The cost of materials, rents, ect. being the only limiting factor to training these additional people. My hope is to get cooperation with a FAIR TRADE organization to help them market these new products. Any quilt purchase,or support will be helpful to acheving this goal
